CAMOUFLAGE:The Original Green - 12/5/2009
The experiences of watching antlers emerge ghost-like through the dawn`s white fog or witnessing cupped mallard wings darting sharply through a glassy cypress slough are in jeopardy. They are at risk of becoming nothing more than scenes in stories that we one day tell our children and grandchildren when harkening back to the "good ol` days"--the days when we could experience raw intimacy with wildlife through hunting.  More...

NRA: Fighting the Good Fight - 11/16/2009
Political battles over health care, economic recovery and other issues dominate the headlines. And while Congress has taken on a few high-profile gun issues--especially interstate Right-to-Carry, Right-to-Carry in national parks, and the battle to reform gun laws in Washington--your NRA-ILA has worked behind the scenes to protect and advance the interests of gun owners in many other areas. Though some bills have come to a vote and others haven’t, all of them provide opportunities to expand our freedoms on the national level.  More...

The Truth About Gun Shows - 10/1/2009
Recent attacks on American gun shows are not about law enforcement or punishing the guilty, they are about exploiting a lack of knowledge on the part of the general public and paving the way for universal firearm registration ... and, if history is anything to go by, confiscation.  More...

Are You An American, or Are You A Terrorist? - 8/30/2009
If you are an NRA member, are returning from active duty, agree with the Heller decision and believe the government is attempting to ban guns, than a cabal of anti-gunners is asking... Are You An American, or Are You A Terrorist?  More...

Expressing Shared Political Values - 8/26/2009
In an astonishing and rare procedural shift, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to produce an expected narrow decision on a critical First Amendment case before its last term ended. Instead, the court deferred its ruling and ordered a new hearing--calling for the case to be re-argued under a vastly broadened scope--scheduled for September, even before its new term begins.  More...

Right-to-Carry In Restaurants - 8/26/2009
Right-to-Carry is not a new concept. It` been the law in Tennessee for more than ten years. A 1998 article in the Tennessean newspaper carried the incredulous headline, "Gun law hasn`t led to carnage"--as if this were a big surprise.  More...

A Year after Heller, Second Amendment Cases Move Fast - 8/26/2009
As this issue goes to press, we’ve just celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Supreme Court decision in District of Columbia v. Heller, which firmly established that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to arms.  More...

NRA Has a Dog in This Fight - 8/15/2009
Many Americans find it hard to believe that there are groups lobbying across the country to malice it much more expensive and difficult to obtain dogs or occasionally breed them for others to enjoy. It should come as no surprise, however, that the lead agitator is the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS).  More...

The OAS Treaty: Blueprint for Dismantling the Second Amendment - 8/14/2009
The Obama administration’s offensive against the Second Amendment has begun.

As was predicted, the strategy uses international law to create a foundation for repressive and extreme gun control. The mechanism is an international treaty, the “Inter-American Convention Against the Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives and Other Related Materials.”  More...

Blind Alleys On The Information Superhighway - 8/6/2009
During World War II, soldiers stuck on troopships or remote bases would often start rumors, just for the sake of seeing how fast a tall tale would get back to them. All patriotic Americans appreciate what those GIs did to preserve freedom, but we can only imagine what the rumor mill would have been like if the Internet had existed in those days.  More...

Bloomberg's Half Truths - 7/1/2009
The “off year” gubernatorial election that’s underway in Virginia is traditionally considered a political bellwether for the next regular election cycle. But now, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is trying to transform the Virginia governor’s race into a referendum on gun control.  More...

The Ninth Circuit covers the nine westernmost states, including California.  More...

Showing Their True Colors - 5/30/2009
Following the election of the most anti-gun president in American history and a Congress led by some of the most extreme anti-gun politicians ever to set foot on Capitol Hill, the most surprising news out of Washington during Obama-Biden’s first 100 days was that gun control was suddenly--and supposedly--not a priority. Make special note of that “supposedly.”  More...

One on One with Chuck Norris - 5/26/2009
It was the week before the election of 2008 and the Second Amendment needed some help. Economic bad news was drowning out the key differences between candidates on core Second Amendment issues in some of the nation’s tightest races. The media obsession with the presidential race was diverting voter attention from key congressional contests. Freedom hung in the balance.

In that final, fateful week, one of America’s favorite action heroes stepped up to take command. Screen star Chuck Norris, known to generations of Americans as an icon of toughness, filmed a television ad on behalf of the NRA Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF).

“Some politicians say they support your rights--but their voting records say otherwise,” warned Norris in the ad. “Protect your rights on Election Day--check the candidate’s record, and see who stood up for your family--and who protected the criminals.”  More...

"Assault Weapons" 2009 - 3/27/2009
Legislation to require a federal license to possess any detachable-magazine, semi-automatic rifle or shotgun, or any handgun, has been introduced in Congress. Legislation to reimpose the federal “assault weapon” and “large capacity” magazine ban of 1994, or an even broader ban--both introduced in the last two congresses--is sure to follow. And legislation to ban all semi-automatic and pump-action firearms, starting with those that use detachable magazines, has been pro-posed in the past and may not be far behind.  More...

The Coming Storm - 3/27/2009
Even before Inauguration Day, the Brady Campaign provided President Barack Obama with a wish list of gun-prohibition measures it’s hoping he will champion in the coming months.  More...

Education at the Extremez - 3/27/2009
With President Barack Obama’s Cabinet reading like a “who’s who” of gun-ban advocates, it’s difficult to say which member is the most anti-gun. That is, until you meet Arne Duncan.  More...

President Obama`s Election and the Future of Hunting in America - 2/25/2009
Obama’s voting record as it relates to gun ownership is an open book for all to see. Regardless of the lies told by Fact Check, American Hunters and Shooters Association (AHSA) and other partisan front groups during the recent presidential election, his votes were more extreme than the most radical gun banners in American history—Ted Kennedy, Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton and Dianne Feinstein.  More...

Shes BAAAAACK! - 2/19/2009
As a presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton caused a scare for gun owners. Now named Barack Obama’s secretary of state, the Clinton anti-gun nightmare has returned.  More...

Standing Guard: Ever Vigilant - 2/19/2009
Remember all those phony election stories floated by the media that the gun control issue was irrelevant, that anti-gun rights politicians had seen the light, that gun owners had nothing to worry about? We said they were lies and distortions. Now the Brady Campaign and the big media are proving we were right all along.  More...

President`s Column: Grassroots Activism Is A Powerful Force - 2/19/2009
Everyone now knows the danger the Obama-Biden White House poses to the rights of law-abiding gun owners. We watched as President Barack Obama assembled his team from among the most anti-gun zealots to ever hold public office. With Hillary Clinton, Tom Daschle and Eric Holder in the cabinet, and Rahm Emanuel as chief of staff, America’s gun owners know the dangers we face and that our friends in Congress will be mightily challenged in their defense of America’s beloved Second Amendment.  More...

The Holder Distortion - 1/26/2009
On the heels of naming gun-banner Rahm Emanuel as his chief of staff, Barack Obama once again puts the lie to his supposed support of the Second Amendment by selecting former Clintonite and gun-hater Eric Holder as attorney general.  More...

Political Report: Same Anti-Gunners, Different Year - 1/26/2009
One of the most stinging blows that Hillary Clinton delivered to Barack Obama's presidential campaign came when she mocked his motto "change you can believe in," by altering it to "change you can Xerox." Now, even as she prepares to join the Obama administration as secretary of state, her criticism is ringing true. Ironically, her own appointment is the most obvious example. Obama is staffing his administration from top to bottom with refugees from the Clinton White House, including two of the most aggressive anti-gun operatives of that era. They, in turn, promise to bring the same approach to the Second Amendment that Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Janet Reno pioneered.  More...

Has Their Time Come? - 1/26/2009
Last year, when then-Senator Barack Obama told his adoring faithful, "we are the ones we`ve been waiting for," anti-gun groups must have thought he was talking to them.  More...
