NRA-PVF Endorses Congressman John Salazar for Re-election in CO Dist. 3

Friday, October 13, 2006

Grand Junction, CO - The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) announces its endorsement of incumbent Representative John Salazar for re-election to Congress this November 7th.

At a media event for Congressman Salazar in Grand Junction, Colorado, NRA-PVF Chairman, Chris W. Cox, stated, "Growing up on a ranch in rural San Luis Valley, John Salazar learned to shoot and hunt and importantly, he learned to respect the Second Amendment.  He appreciates his gun rights and knows the importance of those rights for law-abiding gun owners in Colorado."

In his term as Congressman, Rep. Salazar co-sponsored and voted for H.R. 1036, to protect law-abiding gun manufacturers and dealers from predatory lawsuits designed to bankrupt the American firearms industry.  He co-sponsored H.R. 3193 - legislation allowing law-abiding D.C. residents to own and use a firearm in their home for self-defense. In addition, Rep. Salazar voted for legislation to prohibit firearm confiscation during government declared emergencies such as Hurricane Katrina last year.  And, he voted for HR 5092, "BATFE Modernization and Reform Act," to improve federal firearms laws by streamlining the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Representative Salazar supports allowing commercial airline pilots to be armed in the cockpit to protect their plane and passengers from terrorist attacks, and he believes in protecting the preservation of gun shows and gun purchaser privacy.

Because of his strong Second Amendment record, Rep. Salazar earned an "A" rating from NRA-PVF.

"Colorado sportsmen and women know the importance of their Second Amendment freedom, and they know John Salazar is the right choice to represent them in District 3." Cox continued, "We urge all NRA members and gun owners to go out November 7th and cast their vote for John Salazar."
