NRA - PVF Endorses Congressman Virgil Goode for Reelection in Virginia's 5th District

Monday, September 29, 2008

Fairfax, VA-Congressman Virgil Goode, running for re-election in Virginia's 5th district, has received the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF)'s endorsement.

"Virgil Goode has a perfect pro-gun voting record in Congress and is a great friend to gun owners," said Chris W. Cox, Chairman of NRA-PVF. "On behalf of thousands of NRA members in Virginia, the NRA Political Victory Fund is proud to endorse Congressman Virgil Goode for reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives."

During his tenure in Congress, Virgil Goode co-sponsored and voted to stop bogus lawsuits against gun manufacturers and dealers, to prohibit gun confiscation during states of emergency and to repeal the gun ban and restore self-defense rights to residents of the District of Columbia.

Congressman Goode also co-sponsored and voted for legislation to force reform of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and is a co-sponsor of the National Right to Carry Reciprocity bill, which would extend federal protection of state right to carry permits and licenses across the country.

Prior to this year's historic Supreme Court decision overturning the handgun ban in the District of Columbia, Congressman Goode signed the pro-gun congressional amicus brief supporting the Second Amendment as an individual right. Goode's solidly pro-gun and pro-hunting voting record has earned him an "A+" rating and endorsement from NRA-PVF.

Cox concluded, "The choice is clear. Congressman Virgil Goode's votes and actions have earned the trust and support of NRA members in Virginia. We encourage our members and fellow hunters and gun owners to vote Virgil Goode for Congress on November 4th."
