NRA - PVF Endorses Congressman Henry Brown for Reelection in South Carolina's 1st District

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

Fairfax, VA-Congressman Henry Brown, running for re-election in South Carolina's 1st district, has received the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF)'s endorsement.

"Henry Brown is a steadfast supporter of our Second Amendment rights and is a great friend to gun owners," said Chris W. Cox, Chairman of NRA-PVF. "On behalf of thousands of NRA members in South Carolina, the NRA Political Victory Fund is proud to endorse Congressman Henry Brown for reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives."

During his tenure in Congress, Henry Brown co-sponsored and voted to stop bogus lawsuits against gun manufacturers and dealers, to prohibit gun confiscation during states of emergency and to repeal the gun ban and restore self-defense rights to residents of the District of Columbia.

Congressman Brown also co-sponsored and voted for legislation to force much-needed reform of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and is a co-sponsor of the National Right to Carry Reciprocity bill, which would extend federal protection of state right to carry permits and licenses across the country.

Prior to this year's historic Supreme Court decision overturning the handgun ban in the District of Columbia, Congressman Brown signed the pro-gun congressional amicus brief supporting the Second Amendment as an individual right. Brown's solidly pro-gun and pro-hunting voting record has earned him an "A" rating and endorsement from NRA-PVF.

By contrast, Congressman Brown's challenger, Linda Ketner, didn't care enough about gun owners and hunters in SC's 1st CD to fill out an NRA questionnaire outlining her positions on the Second Amendment. NRA views this as a sign of indifference or outright hostility toward gun owners, hunters and sportsmen.

Cox concluded, "This November, the choice is clear. Congressman Henry Brown's votes and actions have earned him the trust and support of NRA members in South Carolina. We encourage our members and fellow hunters and gun owners to vote Henry Brown for Congress on November 4th."
