NRA-PVF Endorses Monica Douglas for Election in Pennsylvania's 39th State House District Sends Cease and Desist Letter to ‘F' Rated Opponent's Deceptive Campaign

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Fairfax, VA-The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) announces its endorsement of Monica Douglas for election in Pennsylvania's 39th state house district on November 4.

"Monica Douglas has a strong commitment to the Second Amendment and our country's rich hunting heritage," said Chris W. Cox. "Because of her pro-gun support, Monica Douglas has earned an "A" rating and endorsement from NRA-PVF."

Monica Douglas' opponent, State Representative David Levdansky, is an"F" rated candidate whose open hostility to gun owners is evident in his co-sponsorship and support for bills that blame victims of gun theft for criminal activity, add burdensome restrictions to lawful firearm ownership and gut Pennsylvania's preemption law.

Levdansky has donated thousands of dollars to gun prohibitionist legislators in Philadelphia and is endorsed by numerous anti-gun organizations, such as the Mothers Against Guns, Ceasefire Pennsylvania and the Million Mom March.

Levdansky's view of the Second Amendment and gun owners and hunters is most evident in his own words to the PA State House Game and Fisheries Committee: "At best, I think that the right to bear arms argument is nothing more than right-wing, ideological rhetoric and ought to be dismissed as such."

Now, Rep. Levdansky is distributing an NRA firearm publication that has been altered by adding his own name and addresses, in an attempt to deceive gun owners and to preserve his own political career. NRA has sent the Levdansky campaign a cease and desist letter and NRA's Office of General Counsel is considering further legal action against Levdansky's unauthorized use of NRA's trademark in a manner that confuses members of the public about NRA's support of Monica Douglas.

"Monica Douglas is a solid advocate for the right to keep and bear arms in Pennsylvania. It's time gun owners and hunters in Pennsylvania's 39th State House district sent David Levdansky home for good," concluded Cox. "We encourage our members and fellow hunters and gun owners to vote Monica Douglas for Pennsylvania's 39th State House district on November 4th."
