NRA-PVF Endorses State Sen. Johnny Nugent for Re-election in Indiana's District 43 Receives Highest Possible "A+" NRA - PVF Rating

Fairfax, Va. -- The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse State Senator Johnny Nugent (R-43) for re-election in Indiana's May 4th Republican Primary.

"Throughout his long tenure of service as a public policy maker and legislative leader, Sen. Johnny Nugent has proven his strong commitment to protecting the Second Amendment for Indiana gun owners," said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF.

Johnny Nugent has a perfect voting record on critical NRA issues and is a crucial pro-gun leader in the Indiana Senate. After many years of championing the self-defense rights of law-abiding Hoosiers and continually sponsoring both Emergency Powers and Parking Lot bills, Sen. Nugent succeeded in passing a combined bill, HB 1065, into law this year.

Sen. Nugent's unwavering support for the Second Amendment does not stop at the Indiana state line. In 2009, Johnny Nugent joined two pro-gun amicus briefs supporting the McDonald v. Chicago lawsuit to overturn Chicago's gun ban before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Sen. Nugent also serves on the National Rifle Association Board of Directors.

NRA-PVF is pleased to give Johnny Nugent an "A+", the highest rating a candidate can receive.

"This year, the choice is clear. Johnny Nugent's strong voting record to protect gun owners' rights throughout Indiana proves he understands and appreciates the Second Amendment," continued Cox. "I urge gun owners, hunters and sportsmen in Indiana's 43rd District to re-elect Sen. Nugent. The people of Indiana value their freedom, and Johnny Nugent is the best candidate to serve them."

Chris W. Cox is NRA's chief lobbyist. He also serves as chairman of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund is responsible for political candidate rankings. These are based on candidate voting records, public statements and responses to NRA-PVF questionnaires.
