NRA-PVF Endorses Charles Grassley for U.S. Senate
Monday, September 20, 2010
Fairfax, Va. - The National Rifle Association Political Victory
Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Charles Grassley for re-election to the
U.S. Senate this November.
"Charles Grassley is a steadfast supporter of our freedom," said
Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. "He has an unwavering
record of fighting for the Second Amendment freedoms of all
law-abiding Americans and has earned the trust of Iowa gun
owners."
As a United States Senator, Grassley has demonstrated a proven
commitment to our Second Amendment rights. He cosponsored and voted
for legislation enacted into law that prevents bogus lawsuits
against gun manufacturers and voted to prohibit gun confiscation
during states of emergency as happened after Hurricane
Katrina. He also voted to repeal Washington D.C.'s gun
ban/registration statute and restore the right of self-defense to
law-abiding residents of our nation's capital.
Grassley signed the pro-gun congressional amicus brief to the
U.S. Supreme Court in support of our individual right to keep and
bear arms in the historic Heller case and signed the
congressional amicus brief stating that the Second Amendment
guarantees a fundamental right that applies to all Americans, no
matter where they live, in the McDonald case.
Additionally, he voted against the confirmation of anti-gun Supreme
Court Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor.
Senator Grassley voted for the National Right-to-Carry
Reciprocity amendment, which would extend federal protection of
state right-to-carry licenses and permits across the country, and
cosponsored legislation to force much-needed reform of the federal
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
"Iowa hunters and gun owners value their right to own firearms
and Charles Grassley is the best candidate to help them preserve
that freedom," Cox continued. "We urge all NRA members and gun
owners to vote Charles Grassley for U.S. Senate on November 2."
Chris W. Cox is NRA's chief lobbyist. He also serves as chairman
of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund
is responsible for political candidate rankings. These are based on
candidate voting records, public statements and responses to
NRA-PVF questionnaires.
