NRA-PVF Endorses Chris Dudley in Oregon’s Gubernatorial Race
Thursday, September 23, 2010
Fairfax, Va. -- The National Rifle Association Political Victory
Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Chris Dudley for Governor in Oregon's
2010 general election.
"Chris Dudley proudly supports gun owners and hunters in Oregon,"
said Chris Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. "His commitment to
preserving the Second Amendment has earned him an 'A' rating and
the NRA-PVF's endorsement."
Chris Dudley will be a strong voice in fighting ongoing attempts
by anti-gun politicians to dismantle the Second Amendment. He
agrees with the Supreme Court view that the Second Amendment
guarantees an individual right to keep and bear arms, regardless of
where you live. He supports efforts to ensure uniformity in
state gun laws and prevent a patchwork of confusing local
ordinances and regulations across the state.
In stark contrast, his opponent, former Governor John Kitzhaber,
vetoed NRA-backed legislation containing landmark revisions to the
state's firearms preemption law, which the Oregon Legislature
overrode. Kitzhaber also vetoed legislation protecting shooting
range facilities against bogus lawsuits, where law enforcement and
civilians train to safely handle and use firearms and where hunters
sight-in their rifles before season. For his opposition to the
rights of Oregon gun owners, Kitzhaber has received an 'F' rating
from the NRA-PVF.
"The difference between the two candidates in Oregon's race for
governor could not be more clear," concluded Cox. "Gun owners and
sportsmen need to make their voices heard in this critical
election, and I encourage them to vote Chris Dudley for Governor
this fall."
Chris W. Cox is NRA's chief lobbyist. He also serves as chairman
of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund
is responsible for political candidate rankings. These are based on
candidate voting records, public statements and responses to
NRA-PVF questionnaires.
