NRA-PVF Endorses Doug Lamborn for U.S. House of Representatives in Colorado’s 5th Congressional District
Friday, September 17, 2010
Fairfax, Va. - The National Rifle Association Political Victory
Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Doug Lamborn for re-election to the
U.S. House of Representatives in Colorado's 5th Congressional
District this November.
"Doug Lamborn is a strong defender of the Second Amendment
freedoms of law-abiding gun owners, hunters and sportsmen in
Colorado and across America," said Chris W. Cox, chairman of
NRA-PVF.
During his time in Congress, Lamborn voted to allow carry
license or permit holders to carry and transport firearms for
self-defense in national parks and wildlife refuges and to protect
hunting, fishing, trapping and recreational shooting on public land
managed by the Bureau of Land Management. He cosponsored and voted
for legislation to force much-needed reform of the federal Bureau
of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) and
cosponsored the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act, which
would extend federal protection of state right-to-carry licenses
and permits across the country. He also voted for the Childers
Amendment to reverse a 32-year ban on gun ownership in the nation's
capital and cosponsored the Second Amendment Enforcement Act to
restore gun rights to law-abiding residents of Washington, D.C.
Lamborn cosponsored the Firearms Interstate Commerce Reform Act
that would remove several antiquated and unnecessary restrictions
imposed on interstate firearms business since 1968, including
interstate handgun sales. In addition, he signed the pro-gun
congressional "friend of the court" brief in the 2008
Heller case, supporting the Second Amendment as an
individual right and striking down the gun ban in our nation's
capital, and signed the pro-gun congressional brief in the
McDonald case, supporting the position that the Second
Amendment guarantees a fundamental right that protects all
Americans.
Doug Lamborn's record and his commitment to preserving our
Second Amendment rights and hunting heritage has earned him an "A"
rating and endorsement from the NRA-PVF.
"On November 2nd, I urge all Colorado NRA Members and gun owners
in the 5th District to vote Doug Lamborn for Congress," Cox
concluded.
