NRA-PVF Endorses Jan Brewer in Arizona’s Gubernatorial Race
Tuesday, September 21, 2010
Fairfax, Va. -- The National Rifle Association Political Victory
Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Jan Brewer for re-election as Arizona
Governor this November.
"Jan Brewer proudly supports gun owners and hunters in Arizona,"
said Chris Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. "Her commitment to
preserving the Second Amendment has earned her an 'A+' rating and
the NRA-PVF's endorsement."
Governor Brewer will continue to be a strong voice in fighting
ongoing attempts by anti-gun politicians to dismantle the Second
Amendment. She was instrumental to the passage of legislation
protecting the right of employees to keep a firearm locked in their
vehicles while parked on company property. She also signed
legislation recognizing the right-to-carry in restaurants and
became only the second governor in the nation to sign a law
recognizing the right of all law-abiding citizens to carry a
firearm without a permit. Brewer also supported an important
improvement to Arizona's statute prohibiting enactment of local gun
control laws.
In contrast, her opponent, Attorney General Terry Goddard,
supports restrictions on private party transfers and has favored
gun registration schemes. In addition, he refused to sign a
letter sent to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder asking him to
oppose a ban on semi-automatic firearms and stated in a report to
the U.S. Senate subcommittee on border violence that he would look
into further restrictions on the purchase of commonly owned
semi-automatic rifles.
"Voters in Arizona value their freedom and they can count on Jan
Brewer to fight for them," Cox continued. "Her strong dedication to
freedom means that gun owners can count on Governor Brewer to
continue to support their Second Amendment rights. We urge
all Arizona gun owners and sportsmen to vote Jan Brewer for
Governor on November 2."
Chris W. Cox is NRA's chief lobbyist. He also serves as chairman
of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund
is responsible for political candidate rankings. These are based on
candidate voting records, public statements and responses to
NRA-PVF questionnaires.
