NRA-PVF Endorses Jerry Moran for U.S. Senate
Monday, September 13, 2010
Fairfax, Va. - The National Rifle Association Political Victory
Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Jerry Moran for election to the U.S.
Senate this November.
"Jerry Moran is a steadfast supporter of our freedom," said
Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. "He has an unwavering
record of fighting for and protecting the Second Amendment for all
law-abiding Americans and has earned the trust of Kansas gun
owners."
Rep. Moran was the lead sponsor of the Open Fields Initiative, a
new program that will provide resources to fund state efforts to
develop voluntary incentive programs that expand public access
lands for hunting, fishing and will safeguard our treasured hunting
heritage. He cosponsored and voted for legislation to end reckless
lawsuits against America's gun manufacturers and legislation to
prohibit gun confiscation from law-abiding Americans during states
of emergency. He also voted to repeal of the D.C. gun
ban/registration statute and restore the right of self-defense to
law-abiding residents of our nation's capital.
Jerry Moran signed the pro-gun congressional amicus brief to the
U.S. Supreme Court in support of our individual right to keep and
bear arms in the historic Heller case. He also signed the
congressional amicus brief stating that the Second Amendment
guarantees a fundamental right that applies to all Americans, no
matter where they live, in the McDonald case. In addition,
Rep. Moran cosponsored the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity
amendment, which would extend federal protection of state
right-to-carry licenses and permits across the country, and is the
sponsor of legislation to force much-needed reform of the federal
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
"Kansas hunters and gun owners value their right to own firearms
and Jerry Moran is the best candidate to help them preserve that
freedom," Cox continued. "We urge all NRA members and gun owners to
vote Jerry Moran for U.S. Senate on November 2."
Chris W. Cox is NRA's chief lobbyist. He also serves as chairman
of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund
is responsible for political candidate rankings. These are based on
candidate voting records, public statements and responses to
NRA-PVF questionnaires.
