NRA-PVF Endorses Tim Holden for U.S. House of Representatives in Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District
Thursday, September 23, 2010
Fairfax, Va. -- The National Rifle Association Political Victory
Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Tim Holden for re-election to the U.S.
House of Representatives in Pennsylvania's 17th
Congressional District.
"Tim Holden's commitment to preserving our Second Amendment
freedoms and hunting heritage has earned him the NRA-PVF
endorsement," said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. "Tim will
continue fighting for the Second Amendment rights of all
law-abiding gun owners in Pennsylvania and across the country."
As a member of Congress, Tim Holden has
demonstrated his commitment to our Second Amendment
rights by voting for legislation enacted into law that prevents
bogus lawsuits against gun manufacturers and prohibits gun
confiscation during states of emergency. He also voted to restore
self-defense rights in our nation's capital and signed the pro-gun
congressional amicus brief to the Supreme Court supporting
our individual right to keep and bear arms in the Heller
case. Holden cosponsored concealed carry reciprocity legislation
which would provide a national standard for carrying concealed
firearms, in addition to cosponsoring legislation that would reform
the of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and
Explosives (BATFE). Additionally, Holden signed a letter to
Attorney General Holder expressing his opposition to re-enacting
the failed 1994 ban on semi-automatic firearms and ammunition
magazines. Most recently, Holden signed the pro-gun congressional
amicus brief arguing that the Second Amendment guarantees
a fundamental right that protects all Americans in the
McDonald case.
Based on his solid pro-gun voting record and his leadership on
gun issues in the House, Tim Holden has earned an "A" rating and
the endorsement of the NRA-PVF.
"On November 2nd, I urge all Pennsylvania NRA Members and gun
owners in the 17th District to vote Tim Holden for
Congress," Cox concluded.
