NRA-PVF Endorses Connie Mack for U.S. Senate in Florida

Saturday, September 22, 2012

Fairfax, Va. – The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Connie Mack for U.S. Senate in Florida.

“Connie Mack has strongly supported the Second Amendment rights of all Americans,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. “Because of his unwavering dedication, he has earned an “A” rating and endorsement from the NRA-PVF.”

During his time in Congress, Connie Mack voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for his role in the deadly Operation Fast and Furious scandal. He has also demonstrated his commitment to our Second Amendment rights by voting for H.R. 822, “The National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act,” which would ensure that law-abiding Americans with valid concealed handgun permits would be able to carry a concealed handgun in any other state that does not prohibit concealed carry. Connie Mack will oppose any anti-gun nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court as well as any international treaty by the United Nations or any other global organization that would impose restrictions on American gun owners.

In contrast, Connie Mack's opponent, incumbent U.S. Senator Bill Nelson, has opposed the rights of gun owners throughout his career. As a result, Senator Nelson has earned an “F” rating by the NRA-PVF.

Bill Nelson voted to put Sonia Sotomayor on the U.S. Supreme Court – the same Sonia Sotomayor who signed an opinion saying that Americans do not have an individual right to keep and bear arms. Further, Nelson refused to join 58 of his colleagues in signing a bipartisan letter opposing any United Nations Arms Trade Treaty that would restrict civilian firearms ownership. Nelson also refused to join the historic briefs filed before the U.S. Supreme Court in District of Columbia v. Heller and McDonald v. City of Chicago. By failing to join a majority of his colleagues in signing those briefs, Nelson made it clear that he does not believe the Second Amendment guarantees a fundamental, individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms in Florida or anywhere else in America.

“The choice in this election is clear. Connie Mack has a record of defending our Right to Keep and Bear Arms. Bill Nelson does not,” continued Cox. “We urge all NRA members and gun owners in Florida to vote Connie Mack for U.S. Senate on November 6.”
