NRA-PVF Endorses John Waterman for Re-Election in Indiana's 39th Senate District

Friday, April 23, 2010

Fairfax, Va. -- The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is pleased to endorse State Senator John Waterman (R-39) for re-election in Indiana's Republican Primary on May 4th.

"The NRA is synonymous with freedom, and Hoosiers in the 39th Senate District could not have a better friend than John Waterman," said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. "We are pleased to endorse John, because we know he will continue to fight for and protect the Second Amendment for all law-abiding gun owners in Indiana."

Throughout his tenure in the General Assembly, Sen. Waterman has maintained a 100% pro-Second Amendment record, both in Indiana and across the country. In 2009, John Waterman participated in two pro-gun amicus briefs supporting the McDonald v. Chicago lawsuit to overturn Chicago's gun ban before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. In 2010, Sen. Waterman voted to close access to Indiana's concealed carry permit database, to prevent firearm confiscations during states of emergency and to enact parking lot protections for Hoosier employees.

Senator John Waterman's steadfast support for individual gun ownership rights earned him an "A+," the highest possible rating awarded by NRA-PVF.

"It's up to gun owners to vote for freedom on May 4th," continued Cox. "Hoosiers value their right to own firearms, and John Waterman is the right man to represent them."

Chris W. Cox is NRA's chief lobbyist. He also serves as chairman of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund is responsible for political candidate rankings. These are based on candidate voting records, public statements and responses to NRA-PVF questionnaires.
