Fairfax, Va. – The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Heather Wilson for U.S. Senate in New Mexico.
"Heather Wilson has a proven record of defending the Second Amendment," said David Keene, President of NRA. "Because of her strong support of our rights, Heather Wilson has earned an "A" rating and endorsement from the NRA-PVF."
While in Congress, Rep. Heather Wilson joined the historic brief filed before the U.S. Supreme Court in District of Columbia v. Heller, which argued that the Second Amendment guarantees a fundamental, individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms in New Mexico or anywhere else in America. Wilson also cosponsored and voted for the “Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act,” which protected American gun makers from being sued into bankruptcy. She also voted for the “Disaster Recovery Personal Protection Act” and voted to prohibit gun confiscation during states of emergency.
In contrast, Heather Wilson's opponent, Rep. Martin Heinrich, voted against holding Attorney General Eric Holder in criminal and civil contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with congressional subpoenas related to the deadly Operation Fast and Furious scandal. Heinrich also voted for several anti-hunting amendments, including an amendment to the “Sportsmen’s Heritage Act of 2012” that would have limited hunting on federal lands.
"Voters in New Mexico can trust that Heather Wilson will respect their right to self-defense and will honor their rich hunting heritage." Keene continued. "We urge all NRA members and gun owners in New Mexico to vote Heather Wilson for U.S. Senate on November 6."
