Recently, a misleading email has been circulated around Mississippi House District 35 about the record of your state Representative Joey Hood (R-Ackerman) on issues affecting your rights.  Any claim that Joey Hood has pushed gun control or not supported the Second Amendment in the Mississippi Legislature is laughable and patently false!

On July 1, Senate Bill 2394 became state law.  This NRA-backed legislation reduces concealed carry permit fees across the board and allows law-abiding citizens to carry firearms for protection in a purse, satchel or briefcase without a state-issued permit.  Representative Joey Hood supported this bill and, as a key member of the committees to which many firearm-related bills are referred, actively worked to pass it and other key pro-Second Amendment measures throughout his tenure in the Mississippi Senate.

Joey Hood voted for and actively worked to pass bills:

	Reducing Carry Permit Fees
	Allowing law-abiding citizens to carry handguns for protection openly or concealed in a purse or briefcase, without a permit
	Creating an Annual Tax-Free Weekend for Gun and Ammunition Sales
	Preventing the Government from Confiscating Firearms During a State of Emergency or Disaster
	Protecting the Privacy of Carry Permit Holders
	Establishing a Constitutional Right to Hunt and Fish in Mississippi
	Eliminating Firearm Businesses' Record-Keeping Requirements at the State Level

All gun control measures were defeated under Joey Hood's watch – including proposed gun bans and ammunition registration schemes.

     Don't be fooled by misguided, outsider fundraising groups that seek to divide supporters of the Second Amendment with a misinformation campaign and a questionable agenda!      

Representatives from your NRA-ILA recently visited six different cities in the Magnolia State – including Ackerman – to thank NRA members and pro-gun lawmakers like Representative Joey Hood for working with us to pass more than a dozen pro-gun measures over the last four years in the Mississippi Legislature and to defeat any and all anti-gun bills that were introduced (including gun ban and ammunition registration schemes).
