For the following reasons, Mike Conaway has received our endorsement and “A+” rating:

• Supports Right-to-Carry: Cosponsored and voted for H.R. 38, “Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017,” which ensures that the nearly 20 million law-abiding Americans who can carry a concealed firearm in their home state are able to do so in any other state that does not prohibit concealed carry. This is the strongest piece of self-defense legislation to ever come before Congress.
• Supports Veterans: Sponsored and voted for legislation that would protect veterans’ Second Amendment rights.
• Opposes Backdoor Gun Ban: Voted to strike down an Obama-era regulation that would have stripped Social Security recipients of their Second Amendment rights without due process.
• Opposes Gun Control: Strongly opposes the Bloomberg/Schumer/Pelosi agenda of banning lawfully-owned firearms, magazines, and ammunition, and creating a so-called “universal” background check system that would criminalize the private transfer of firearms, which is only enforceable through federal gun registration.
• Supports Gun Manufacturers and Dealers: Voted for the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, a law that prevents the American gun industry from being sued into bankruptcy through frivolous lawsuits.
• Supports America’s Hunting Heritage: Voted for the Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreation Enhancement (SHARE) Act, a bill that would benefit sportsmen throughout Texas and the country.
• Opposes Operation Choke Point: Voted for legislation to end an abusive practice, known as Operation Choke Point, in which the Obama Department of Justice intimidated banks into refusing or severing financial services to legally-operated ammunition and firearms dealers. 
• Opposes the U.N. Gun Ban Treaty: Signed a letter opposing the Obama Administration’s signing of the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) that would impose international restrictions on American gun owners. He also cosponsored a concurrent resolution opposing the ATT.
• Opposes Ammo Ban: Signed a letter with over two hundred congressmen condemning the Obama Administration’s flagrant attempt to ban the most popular and widely used ammunition in America.  
• Opposes Gun Confiscation: Cosponsored and voted to prohibit gun confiscation during states of emergency, as happened after Hurricane Katrina.
