John W. Magaw, a career federal law enforcer and head of the Transportation Security Administration, told a senatorial committee Tuesday that his agency wouldn't allow commercial airline pilots to carry guns in cockpits. While Magaw made reasoned decision, it isn't the right one for the long term.
