NRA - PVF Endorses Mississippi State Senator Charlie Ross In the August 7 GOP Primary for Lt. Governor in Mississippi

Thursday, July 19, 2007

Fairfax, VA-The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) has endorsed State Senator Charlie Ross (R-20) in the August 7 Republican primary for Mississippi Lieutenant Governor.

"Law-abiding gun owners in Mississippi have a true friend in Charlie Ross," said Chris W. Cox, NRA Chief Lobbyist and Chairman of NRA - PVF. "We are pleased to endorse him in this primary because we know that, if elected Lieutenant Governor, Senator Ross will continue to protect the Second Amendment as an individual right with as much strength and vigor as he has in the Mississippi State Legislature."

Throughout his tenure as a state legislator, Charlie Ross has proven his commitment to protect the rights of gun owners in Mississippi. Ross authored and led the successful fight to pass the NRA-backed "Castle Doctrine" self-defense law. The "Castle Doctrine" gives crime victims the option to defend themselves in their home, workplace or car and removes any mandatory obligation to retreat. The law also provides that when people are threatened, regardless of where they are, they do not have to retreat in order to legitimately defend themselves.

Senator Ross also led the way to pass HB 1141, which protects the rights of employees to transport and store lawfully-owned firearms in locked vehicles while parked at work, prohibits the confiscation and seizure of firearms during a declared state of emergency or natural disaster and protects the right to hunt on private land that is annexed by a municipality or county.

Charlie Ross' unwavering support for the Second Amendment and his desire to take up the fight for the fundamental rights of law-abiding citizens has earned him an A+ rating and NRA endorsement in the August 7 Republican primary.

"We ask every gun owner to support Charlie Ross for Lieutenant Governor in the Republican Primary on August 7," concluded Cox. "The good people of Mississippi value their right to own firearms, and Charlie Ross will proudly and effectively represent them."
