NRA-PVF Endorses Walter Jones for U.S. House of Representatives Primary May 6

Monday, April 28, 2008

FAIRFAX, VA-The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Congressman Walter Jones for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives in the third congressional district of North Carolina.

"During his tenure in the House, Congressman Jones has consistently supported the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen, and demonstrated a strong commitment to the Second Amendment and our country's rich hunting heritage," said Chris W. Cox. "Because of his unwavering pro-gun support, Walter Jones earned an â~A' rating and an endorsement from NRA-PVF."

Rep. Jones has voted to curb frivolous lawsuits against gun manufacturers and dealers, and to prohibit gun confiscation during states of emergency. He also signed on to the Congressional amicus brief to the Supreme Court in the case of Heller v. District of Columbia, arguing that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms.

By contrast, his opponent - Joe McLaughlin - refused to complete the NRA-PVF federal candidate questionnaire, which often indicates indifference or outright hostility to North Carolina's gun rights and hunting heritage.

Cox continued, "Walter Jones believes in North Carolina values, and will continue to be a true and consistent friend in the U.S. House of Representatives. I encourage all North Carolina gun owners and hunters to vote for Rep. Walter Jones on May 6."

Chris W. Cox serves as Executive Director and Chairman of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund is responsible for political candidate rankings. These are based on candidate voting records, public statements and responses to NRA-PVF questionnaires.
