NRA-PVF Endorses Dan Burton in Republican Primary for U.S. House of Representatives
Thursday, April 22, 2010
Fairfax, Va. - The National Rifle Association Political Victory
Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Congressman Dan Burton (R-IN) in the
Republican primary for U.S. House of Representatives in the 5th
Congressional District of Indiana being held on May 4th.
"During his tenure in the House, Dan Burton has consistently
supported the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun owners and
sportsmen, and has demonstrated a strong commitment to the Second
Amendment and our country's rich hunting heritage," said Chris W.
Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. "Because of his solid pro-gun support,
Dan Burton has earned an 'A' rating and endorsement from
NRA-PVF."
Rep. Burton voted to curb frivolous lawsuits against gun
manufacturers and to prohibit gun confiscation during states of
emergency. He also helped to restore Second Amendment rights in our
nation's capital by cosponsoring and voting for the D.C. Second
Amendment Enforcement Act, as well as signing the amicus brief to
the Supreme Court supporting an individual right to keep and bear
arms in the Heller case. Most recently, Rep. Burton signed the
pro-gun congressional amicus brief supporting the Second
Amendment's application to state and local governments in the
McDonald case now before the Supreme Court. Finally, he cosponsored
legislation to reform the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco,
Firearms and Explosives.
Cox continued, "Dan Burton's pro-gun accomplishments are
extensive, and his record proves that he will continue to be a
strong and consistent friend in the U.S. House of Representatives.
This May 4th, I encourage all gun-owners and NRA members to vote
for Congressman Dan Burton in Indiana's 5th Congressional District
Republican primary."
Chris W. Cox is NRA's chief lobbyist. He also serves as chairman
of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund
