NRA-PVF Endorses U.S. Rep. Patrick McHenry in 10th Congressional District's Republican Primary

Thursday, April 22, 2010

Fairfax, Va. - The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing U.S. Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) for re-election in the 10th Congressional District during North Carolina's Republican primary on May 4th.

"During his tenure in Congress, Patrick McHenry has demonstrated a proven and consistent commitment to upholding the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners, hunters and sportsmen," said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. "Because of his unwavering pro-gun and pro-hunting record and his willingness to be a leader in defense of the Second Amendment, Patrick McHenry has earned an 'A' rating and endorsement from NRA-PVF."

Rep. McHenry helped to restore self-defense rights in Washington, D.C. by cosponsoring and voting for the D.C. Personal Protection Act and the Second Amendment Enforcement Act, as well as signing the pro-gun congressional amicus brief to the Supreme Court in the historic Heller case. Most recently, he signed the pro-gun congressional amicus brief stating that the Second Amendment applies to state and local governments in the McDonald case now before the Supreme Court. Rep. McHenry voted for legislation enacted to prohibit gun confiscation during states of emergency and to prevent bogus lawsuits aimed at bankrupting the firearms industry. Finally, he cosponsored legislation to force reform at the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Cox continued, "Patrick McHenry is a proven advocate for the Second Amendment and a trustworthy friend in the U.S. House of Representatives. This May 4th, I encourage fellow gun-owners, hunters, sportsmen and NRA members to vote for Congressman Patrick McHenry in North Carolina's 10th Congressional District Republican primary."

Chris W. Cox is NRA's chief lobbyist. He also serves as chairman of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund is responsible for political candidate rankings. These are based on candidate voting records, public statements and responses to NRA-PVF questionnaires.
