NRA-PVF Endorses Debbie Halvorson for U.S. House of Representatives in Illinois’ 11th Congressional District
Tuesday, September 28, 2010
Fairfax, Va. -- The National Rifle Association Political Victory
Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Debbie Halvorson for re-election to the
U.S. House of Representatives in Illinois' 11th Congressional
District.
"The NRA-PVF is endorsing Debbie Halvorson because she has
defended the Second Amendment freedoms of law-abiding gun owners,
hunters and sportsmen in Illinois and across America," said Chris
W. Cox, chairman of the NRA-PVF.
As a member of Congress, Halvorson signed the pro-gun
congressional amicus brief arguing that the Second Amendment
guarantees a fundamental right that protects all Americans in the
McDonald case. She voted for an amendment that allows carry
permit holders to carry concealed in national parks and wildlife
refuges and cosponsored legislation to force much-needed reform of
the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and
Explosives. Halvorson also signed a letter to Attorney
General Eric Holder opposing re-enactment of the failed 1994 ban on
semi-automatic firearms and ammunition magazines. Additionally, she
cosponsored the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity amendment,
which would provide a national standard for carrying concealed
firearms.
Debbie Halvorson's commitment to preserving our right to keep
and bear arms has earned her an "A" rating and the endorsement of
the NRA-PVF.
"On November 2nd, I urge all Illinois NRA Members and gun owners
in the 11th District to vote Debbie Halvorson for Congress," Cox
concluded.
