NRA-PVF Endorses Simpson for U.S. Congress in Idaho Primary Race

Monday, March 17, 2014

Fairfax, Va. – The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse Mike Simpson in the 2014 primary race for the Republican nomination for U.S. House of Representatives District 2 in Idaho. David Keene, former president of the NRA, delivered the endorsement this morning at Smitty’s Pancake & Steak House in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

“Mike Simpson is a true conservative leader. He has led and continues to lead the way on vital firearm, hunting and self-defense reforms and issues before Congress,” said David Keene. “He stands steadfast for our Second Amendment freedom and against powerful and reactionary gun control activists like President Obama, Mike Bloomberg, Dianne Feinstein and Chuck Schumer. Mike’s unyielding support and leadership has earned him the highest possible rating from the NRA’s Political Victory Fund, an “A+” rating, and of course, a full-throated endorsement.”

Rep. Simpson has been a strong defender of our Right to Keep and Bear Arms. He cosponsored and voted for the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act, which would ensure that law-abiding Americans with valid concealed handgun permits would be able to carry a concealed handgun in any other state that does not prohibit concealed carry. He has also voted to allow law-abiding citizens to carry firearms on land managed by the Army Corps, voted to allow concealed carry permit holders to carry and transport firearms for self-defense in national parks and wildlife refuges, and voted to prevent ATF from circumventing the will of Congress by centralizing records of thousands of Americans’ long gun purchases.

A strong supporter of our rich hunting heritage, Rep. Simpson has cosponsored and voted for the Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreation Enhancement Act, which would open and protect access to public lands for hunting, allow citizens to carry firearms on Army Corps land, and prohibit the EPA from banning traditional hunting ammunition and fishing tackle. In his role as the chairman of the Interior Appropriations Subcommittee, he led efforts to open more Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management lands to access for hunter, anglers, and target shooters.

“The future of our Second Amendment needs leaders like Mike Simpson in Congress. And, this year, the stakes to preserve our Second Amendment rights have never been higher. That is why the NRA is calling on all our members and every gun owner and sportsman in Idaho’s 2nd congressional district to vote Mike Simpson for Congress in the May 20th primary election,” concluded Keene.
