NRA-PVF Endorses Texas Governor Rick Perry for Re-election in November’s General Election

Thursday, September 16, 2010

Fairfax, Va. - Today, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is announcing its endorsement of Texas Governor Rick Perry for re-election in the state's November 2nd general election.

Chris W. Cox, chairman of the NRA-PVF stated, "The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund is endorsing Governor Perry because of his unequivocal support for the Second Amendment freedoms of law-abiding Texas gun owners. Rick Perry has earned the support of the NRA-PVF. Our members in the Lone Star State know they can trust him to protect their gun rights."

As governor, Perry signed NRA-backed Castle Doctrine legislation, protecting and enhancing the right of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves inside their homes, vehicles and places of business. Additionally, he has given final approval to a wide range of other pieces of pro-gun legislation over the years, including: extending the term of Concealed Handgun Licenses from four to five years; reducing CHL application fees by half for active military personnel and veterans; and protecting shooting range facilities from junk lawsuits. He also signed onto a "friend of the court" brief filed with the United States Supreme Court in McDonald v. Chicago, arguing that the Second Amendment guarantees a fundamental right that protects all Americans.

An NRA Life Member, Perry's accomplishments and outspoken, unapologetic support for the Second Amendment, both in Texas and nationally, have earned him an "A+" rating and endorsement from the NRA-PVF.

"On November 2nd, I urge all Texas NRA members and gun owners to vote for the candidate with a proven track record who will stand up for your gun rights -- vote Rick Perry for Governor," Cox concluded.
