NRA-PVF Endorses John Boehner for U.S. House of Representatives in Ohio’s 8th Congressional District

Friday, October 1, 2010

Fairfax, Va.-- The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Republican Leader John Boehner for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives in Ohio's 8th Congressional District this November.

"The NRA-PVF is endorsing John Boehner because he is a staunch defender of the Second Amendment freedoms of law-abiding gun owners, hunters and sportsmen in Ohio and across America," said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF.

John Boehner has demonstrated his strong commitment to our Second Amendment rights by cosponsoring and voting for the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act that ended bogus lawsuits against the firearms industry and cosponsoring legislation to force much-needed reform of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.  He also cosponsored District of Columbia Personal Protection Act, which would repeal the D.C. gun ban/registration statute and restore the right of self-defense to law-abiding residents of our nation's capital, as well as voted for the Disaster Recovery Personal Protection Act prohibiting gun confiscation during states of emergency as happened after Hurricane Katrina.

Boehner signed the pro-gun congressional amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in support of our individual right to keep and bear arms in the historic Heller case and the congressional amicus brief stating that the Second Amendment guarantees a fundamental right that applies to all Americans, no matter where they live, in the McDonald case. In addition, he voted to protect hunting, fishing, trapping and recreational shooting on public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management and to allow concealed-carry permit holders to carry and transport firearms for self-defense in national parks and wildlife refuges.

"John Boehner is a strong voice in fighting ongoing efforts by anti-gun politicians to dismantle the Second Amendment.  That's why he has received an 'A' rating and endorsement from the NRA-PVF," Cox concluded. "We ask all gun owners and hunters in Ohio's 8th District to vote John Boehner for Congress on November 2."
