NRA Endorses Bill Cassidy for U.S. Senate in Louisiana

Fairfax, Va. On behalf of our five million members across the country, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse Bill Cassidy for United States Senate in Louisiana.

Based on his leadership on Second Amendment issues, Cassidy has earned an “A+” rating from the NRA-PVF in the November 4, 2014 election. An “A+” is the highest possible rating and is reserved for legislators with an excellent voting record on critical NRA issues who have also made a vigorous effort to promote and defend the Second Amendment.

“Bill Cassidy is the only candidate in this race who will always support the rights of Louisiana's law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman of the NRA-PVF. “Unlike his opponent, he will stand up to any attempt by President Obama and out-of-state billionaires like Michael Bloomberg to impose their agenda in the Sportsmen's Paradise.”

Cassidy has strongly opposed Obama and Bloomberg's gun control schemes, including their so-called “universal” background check system that would criminalize the private transfer of a firearm between life-long friends and many family members. Additionally, he opposes Obama’s anti-gun nominees for the U.S. Supreme Court, such as Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan. He also opposes any treaty by the United Nations or any other global organization that would impose restrictions on American gun owners.

“We can count on Bill Cassidy to stand up for our constitutional freedoms in the U.S. Senate,” added Cox. “On behalf of the NRA’s five million members, I want to thank Bill for his steadfast support of the Second Amendment and urge all NRA members, gun owners and sportsmen in Louisiana to vote Bill Cassidy for U.S. Senate on November 4.”

Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America's oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. More than five million members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation's leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services.
