NRA Endorses Mike Rounds for U.S. Senate in South Dakota

Fairfax, Va. – On behalf of our five million members across the country, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse former Governor Mike Rounds for U.S. Senate in South Dakota.

Based on his support of and commitment to the Second Amendment, Rounds has earned an “A” rating from the NRA-PVF in the November 4, 2014 election. An “A” rating is reserved for a solidly pro-gun legislator who has supported the NRA’s position on votes of importance to gun owners.

“As Governor of South Dakota, Mike Rounds supported and signed into law numerous pro-gun and pro-hunting bills,” noted Chris W. Cox, chairman of the NRA-PVF. “Mike signed into law significant enhancements to South Dakota’s self-defense laws and also measures to help preserve the Mount Rushmore state’s hunting heritage by promoting youth hunting.”

Rounds will strongly oppose the Obama-Bloomberg gun control agenda and will vote against any future anti-gun nominees for the U.S. Supreme Court like Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan.  He will also oppose any treaty by the United Nations or other global organization that would impose restrictions on American gun owners.

“We can count on Mike Rounds to stand up for our constitutional freedoms in the U.S. Senate,” added Cox. “On behalf of the NRA’s five million members, I want to thank Mike for his steadfast support of the Second Amendment and urge all NRA members, gun owners and sportsmen in South Dakota to vote Mike Rounds for U.S. Senate on November 4.”

Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America's oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. More than five million members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation's leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services.
