NRA Endorses Tim Griffin for Lt. Governor of Arkansas

Fairfax, Va. – On behalf of our five million members across the country, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse Tim Griffin for Lieutenant Governor of Arkansas.

Based on his support of and commitment to the Second Amendment, Congressman Griffin has earned an “A” rating from the NRA-PVF in the 2014 general election.  An “A” rating is reserved for a pro-gun elected official who has consistently supported the NRA’s position on votes of importance to gun owners and sportsmen.

“While serving in the U.S. Congress, Tim stood strong against the Obama-Bloomberg gun control agenda,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman of the NRA-PVF.  “He consistently opposed all attempts to ban lawfully owned firearms and magazines. Like the vast majority of Arkansas voters, he takes his Second Amendment rights seriously, and will fight hard to protect them.”

Recognizing Arkansas’ rich hunting heritage, Congressman Griffin voted for legislation to protect traditional hunting ammunition and open more federal lands for sportsmen. In addition, he cosponsored and voted for concealed carry reciprocity legislation, which would allow law-abiding Americans to carry a concealed firearm in any other state that does not prohibit concealed carry. Congressman Griffin also voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress on both criminal and civil charges for the flawed and tragic Fast and Furious scandal.

Congressman Griffin rejects expanded licensing and registration schemes and so-called “universal” background checks, which require federal government approval for transferring firearms between life-long friends and family members.

“We can count on Tim Griffin to stand up for our constitutional freedoms in Arkansas,” added Cox. “On behalf of the NRA’s five million members, I want to thank Tim for his steadfast support of the Second Amendment and urge all NRA members, gun owners and sportsmen in Arkansas to vote Tim Griffin for Lt. Governor on November 4.”

Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America's oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. More than five million members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation's leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services.
