NRA Endorses Marsha Blackburn for U.S. Senate

Wednesday, September 19, 2018

Fairfax, Va.— On behalf of our six million members across the country, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) today endorsed Marsha Blackburn for U.S. Senate in Tennessee.

“Marsha Blackburn is a champion of our Second Amendment freedoms and has always stood strong to protect the constitutional rights of law-abiding Americans,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman, NRA-PVF.

Blackburn strongly opposes the Pelosi/Schumer/Bloomberg gun control agenda and will vote for pro-gun Supreme Court justices. She voted against legislation that would criminalize the private transfer of firearms between lifelong friends and many family members. In addition, she voted for the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, which will ensure that 20 million law-abiding gun owners who can carry a concealed firearm in their own state are able to legally carry concealed across state lines.

“Phil Bredesen opposes the constitutional freedoms of law-abiding gun owners and would be a rubber stamp for Chuck Schumer’s gun control agenda in Washington, D.C. He can’t be trusted to defend our Second Amendment rights. A vote for Phil Bredesen is a vote for anti-gun leadership in the U.S. Senate,” continued Cox.

Bredesen supports criminalizing private firearm transfers between lifelong friends and many family members. He also supports a federal gun database and refuses to oppose burdensome and unnecessary restrictions on ammunition. As governor, Phil Bredesen vetoed protections for concealed carry permit holders and opposed allowing law-abiding Tennesseans to carry a firearm for self-defense in the manner that best suits their needs.

“Marsha Blackburn is the only candidate in this race who will defend our Second Amendment rights in Washington, D.C. The NRA encourages all freedom-loving Tennesseans to vote Marsha Blackburn for Senate in November,” concluded Cox.

Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America's oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. More than five million members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation's leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services.
