NRA-PVF Endorses Mike Crapo for U.S. Senate in Idaho

Monday, September 13, 2010

Fairfax, Va. - The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Senator Mike Crapo for re-election to the U.S. Senate this November.

"Mike Crapo is a steadfast supporter of freedom. He earned the NRA-PVF endorsement by standing up for our Second Amendment rights and hunting heritage at every opportunity," said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. "Idaho's gun owners and hunters appreciate his strong dedication in the U.S. Senate."

Sen. Crapo voted for the District of Columbia Personal Protection Act, which would repeal the D.C. gun ban/registration statute and restore the right of self-defense to law-abiding residents of our nation's capital. He cosponsored and voted for legislation to end reckless lawsuits against gun manufacturers and voted to prohibit gun confiscation from law-abiding Americans during states of emergency.  He also led successful efforts in the Senate to allow right-to-carry permit holders to carry and transport firearms for self-defense in national parks and wildlife refuges.

Crapo signed the pro-gun congressional amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in support of the individual right to keep and bear arms in the historic Heller case. He also signed the congressional amicus brief stating that the Second Amendment guarantees a fundamental right that applies to all Americans, no matter where they live, in the McDonald case. In addition, Sen. Crapo voted for the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity amendment, which would extend federal protection of state right-to-carry licenses and permits across the country, and is the sponsor of legislation to force much-needed reform of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

"Mike Crapo's pro-gun voting record and steadfast support for individual gun ownership rights speaks has earned him an "A+" rating and endorsement from the NRA-PVF," Cox continued. "We ask all Idaho gun-owners, hunters and NRA members to vote Mike Crapo for U.S. Senate on November 2nd."

Chris W. Cox is NRA's chief lobbyist. He also serves as chairman of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund is responsible for political candidate rankings. These are based on candidate voting records, public statements and responses to NRA-PVF questionnaires.
