Fairfax, Va. – The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Ted Cruz for U.S. Senate in Texas.
“Ted Cruz has fought to protect our Right to Keep and Bear Arms in the face of ongoing efforts to undermine our rights,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. “His strong support for our Second Amendment freedoms and hunting heritage has earned him an “A+” rating and endorsement from the NRA-PVF.”
While serving as Texas Solicitor General, Ted Cruz authored a friend of the court brief filed before the U.S. Supreme Court in District of Columbia v. Heller on behalf of 31 states, supporting the position that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms and that Washington, D.C.’s gun ban was unconstitutional. Cruz also organized a friend of the court brief before the U.S. Supreme Court in McDonald v. City of Chicago on behalf of 37 states supporting the position that Chicago’s gun ban was unconstitutional.
Ted Cruz will oppose the confirmation of any anti-gun Supreme Court nominee, opposes any international treaty by the United Nations or any other global organization that would impose restrictions on American gun owners supports, and opposes reinstating the failed Clinton semi-auto gun ban. He also supports “The National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act,” which would ensure that law-abiding Americans with a valid concealed handgun permit would be able to carry a concealed handgun in any other state that does not prohibit concealed carry.
“Ted Cruz will lead the fight to protect our fundamental freedoms,” continued Cox. “We encourage all NRA members, gun owners, and sportsmen in Texas to vote Ted Cruz for U.S. Senate on November 6.”
