NRA Endorses Inhofe in OK Republican Senate Primary

Thursday, May 1, 2014

Fairfax, Va. – The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse Senator James Inhofe in the June 24, 2014 Republican U.S. Senate primary in Oklahoma.

Sen. Inhofe's leadership on Second Amendment issues in the U.S. Senate has earned him the highest attainable rating, an “A+”, from NRA-PVF.  An “A+” is reserved for lawmakers with excellent voting records on all critical NRA issues who have also made a vigorous effort to promote and defend the Second Amendment.

"Throughout his career, Jim has consistently opposed every attempt to ban lawfully-owned firearms and magazines.  He has taken a principled stand against President Obama and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s draconian gun control agenda," noted Chris W. Cox, chairman of the NRA-PVF. "Jim understands that to reduce crime, the burden of our laws and the efforts of law enforcement must focus on criminals, and not on law-abiding Americans."

As Ranking Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Inhofe led the fight against the EPA banning lead in ammunition, and sponsored an amendment to prevent the U.S. from entering into the UN Arms Trade Treaty.  Inhofe also voted for the “Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2013,” which would ensure that law-abiding Americans with a valid concealed handgun license would be able to carry their concealed firearm in any other state that does not prohibit concealed carry. Furthermore, he signed the pro-gun congressional “friend of the court” brief in the landmark Heller and McDonald cases.

"Jim gets the job done when it comes to protecting our Second Amendment freedoms and has earned the trust of the NRA's five million members. I urge all gun owners and friends of the Second Amendment to vote for Jim Inhofe in the Oklahoma Republican Senate primary on June 24, 2014," added Cox.

Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America's oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. More than five million members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation's leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services.
