NRA Endorses in North Carolina General Election

Tuesday, September 27, 2016

FAIRFAX, Va.—Today, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) announced its endorsement of several candidates for statewide offices in North Carolina this November. They are Dan Forest for lieutenant governor; Buck Newton for attorney general; and Dale Folwell for state treasurer. These follow NRA-PVF’s recent endorsement of Pat McCrory for a second term as governor.

“On behalf of our five million members, we are pleased to endorse several pro-Second Amendment candidates for statewide office. Dan Forest, Buck Newton and Dale Folwell will continue to provide pro-Second Amendment support and leadership in Raleigh,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman, NRA-PVF. “With anti-gun elites trying to bring their gun control agenda to the statehouse, it is crucial that we elect strong, pro-Second Amendment candidates who will stand up for the rights of law-abiding North Carolinians.”

These candidates have demonstrated strong support for the Second Amendment and hold an impressive record of defending our constitutional right to self-defense. Lt. Gov. Forest and Rep. Folwell each hold an "A" rating and endorsement, while Sen. Newton holds an "A+" rating and endorsement.

With former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg spending his personal fortune to push his extreme anti-gun agenda, it is critical for all freedom-loving North Carolinians to elect candidates who will defend their rights.

“I urge all law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen in North Carolina to vote Dan Forest for lieutenant governor, Buck Newton for attorney general and Dale Folwell for state treasurer,” concluded Cox.

Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America's oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. More than five million members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation's leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services.
