NRA-PVF Endorses U.S. Rep. Mark Souder for Re-election in Indiana's 3rd Congressional District Republican Primary

Thursday, April 22, 2010

Fairfax, Va. - Today the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is announcing its endorsement of U.S. Rep. Mark Souder (R-IN) for re-election in Indiana's Republican primary election on May 4th.

"The National Rifle Association is proud to lend our support to Mark Souder because he is a staunch defender of the Second Amendment freedoms of law-abiding gun owners, hunters and sportsmen in Indiana," said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. "Because of his solid and consistent pro-gun support, Mark Souder has earned an 'A+' rating and endorsement from NRA-PVF."

During his time in Congress, Rep. Souder has demonstrated a proven commitment to Second Amendment rights by voting to curb frivolous lawsuits against gun manufacturers and to prohibit gun confiscation during states of emergency. He led the effort to restoring Second Amendment freedoms in our nation's capital by being the lead sponsor and voting for the D.C. Second Amendment Enforcement Act, as well as leading the record-breaking efforts in the signing of the amicus brief supporting the historic Heller case. Most recently, Rep. Souder led an overwhelming, bipartisan majority of members of the U.S. House of Representatives in signing an amicus brief stating that the Second Amendment applies to state and local governments in the McDonald case now before the Supreme Court. Finally, he cosponsored legislation to force reform at the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

"On May 4th, I urge all Indiana NRA members and gun owners to re-elect Mark Souder to Indiana's 3rd Congressional District," Cox concluded.
