NRA Endorses Pat Roberts for U.S. Senate in Kansas

Monday, September 8, 2014

Fairfax, Va. – On behalf of our five million members across the country, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse Pat Roberts for U.S. Senate in Kansas.

Based on his support of and commitment to the Second Amendment, Roberts has earned an “A” rating from the NRA-PVF in the November 4, 2014 election.  An “A” rating is reserved for a solidly pro-gun legislator who has supported the NRA’s position on key votes.

“Pat is the only ally and battle-tested candidate in this race who has consistently  protected our Second Amendment freedoms,” noted Chris W. Cox, chairman of the NRA-PVF.  “When President Obama sought to undermine our Second Amendment freedoms, Pat stood his ground and earned the trust of his constituents in Kansas.”

Roberts has stood up to the Obama-Bloomberg gun control agenda, including their so-called “universal” background check system that would criminalize the private transfer of a firearm between life-long friends and many family members.  Additionally, he voted against Obama’s anti-gun nominees for the U.S. Supreme Court, such as Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan.  Roberts also signed multiple letters, voted for an amendment and cosponsored a resolution opposing any international treaty by the United Nations or any other global organization that would impose restrictions on American gun owners.

“We can count on Pat to stand up for our constitutional freedoms in the U.S. Senate,” added Cox.  “On behalf of the NRA’s five million members, I want to thank Pat for his steadfast support of the Second Amendment and urge all NRA members, gun owners and sportsmen in Kansas to vote Pat Roberts for U.S. Senate on November 4.”

Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America's oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. More than five million members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation's leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services.
